2024 GMC Lineup Advanced Features in Bradenton, FL - Conley Buick GMC

Your safety has always been a priority for GMC, and the 2024 GMC lineup has a range of driver assistance features that make driving safer than ever. These systems use cameras, sonar, sensors, and radar to watch for potential accident situations. As your GMC dealer, we want to tell you more about how some of these features work to protect you and your passengers on the road.

Rear Camera View

Every driver uses their rearview mirrors when driving, but sometimes, you need a clearer view to spot vehicles or anything else behind you. Your rearview mirror can be easily switched between the traditional mirror view and a wider, unobstructed view from a roof-mounted, rear-facing camera. This makes it easier to reverse or decide when it’s safe to switch lanes.

Following Distance Indicator

Remember the three-second rule from driver’s ed? We all learned it, but it can be difficult to apply it sometimes, especially when concentrating on everything happening around you. This feature uses radar to identify any vehicle in front of you. If a vehicle is detected, the system registers the distance between you, computes your speed, and displays the distance between you measured in seconds. This allows you to decide if you need to slow down.

Forward Collision Alert

This system uses a camera and radar to identify vehicles ahead of you. If it detects a vehicle, it calculates both vehicle’s speeds and distance from each other. The system then computes if you’re closing too fast on the other vehicle, and a collision is possible. You’ll hear warning sounds and visual warnings appear on your screen so you can brake or take other evasive action to prevent an accident.

Automatic Emergency Braking

This feature works with several of your alerts and will proactively engage the brakes if necessary. If a collision warning has sounded, and you haven’t hit the brakes yet, this feature automatically provides hard braking to bring your GMC to an instant stop.

Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert

This feature makes lane changes much safer, as its sensors monitor the blind zones behind your GMC. If you’re shifting into another lane and the sensors identify an approaching vehicle in that lane, you’ll hear warning beeps. The front and read direction indicators flash on and off, and a warning icon appears on the affected side mirror. These warnings give you sufficient time to shift back into your lane until the other vehicle has passed.

These are just some of the numerous safety systems you can have on your GMC, depending on your model. If you’d like to learn more about them, contact us today at Conley Buick GMC in Bradenton, FL.
